The Portable Beat Reader

I remember my own copy of this book once looked like the pic above— but over time it lost its cover and then eventually disintegrated into nothingness because I read it so many times.

I had it with me in London, Paris, Rome, Munich, Frankfurt, Prague, New Orleans, Austin, Mexico City, The Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Duluth, Madison, Chicago, and the finally on the beach at the Jersey shore.

Thank you Ann for the book that is perfect in any location.

The Portable Beat Reader is perhaps the best overview of the Beat generation available. You get coverage of all the major and minor players. When I bought this book I didn't know shit about the Beats except Kerouac and Ginsberg. After I read this 650 page tome I was hooked for life.
