Bobby

Bobby & I

I think he was
buried...
now what,
13 years ago today?

And still the
eye
twitch
persists.

Especially around this anniversary
marked with exploding
patriotic skies,
loud thunder that
reminds me of the storm
that swept before his
funeral.

And what of Bobby remains?
In the ground,
I suppose
not much.

And I saw him the other day.

In the eyes of his brother's son,
in the flat lie of his hair.
In the black t-shirts
and rolling tumbling
gestures of attention.

and
still
in my left eye
that's twitched
since the day he was
thrown
across a Door County road.
